I came across this Labyrinth recently and practiced walking meditation. Although walking meditations can be done anywhere, a labyrinth reflects wholeness, balance and coming back to oneself. Labyrinths invite a person to practice taking steps with gentle awareness.
Walking Meditation by Thich Nhat Hahn
Take my hand.
We will walk.
We will only walk.
We will enjoy our walk
without thinking of arriving anywhere.
Walk peacefully.
Walk happily.
Our walk is a peace walk.
Our walk is a happiness walk.
Then we learn
that there is no peace walk;
that peace is the walk;
that there is no happiness walk;
that happiness is the walk.
We walk for ourselves.
We walk for everyone
always hand in hand.
Walk and touch peace every moment.
Walk and touch happiness every moment.
Each step brings a fresh breeze.
Each step makes a flower bloom under our feet.
Kiss the Earth with your feet.
Print on Earth your love and happiness.
Earth will be safe
when we feel in us enough safety.
Namaste,
Shobhna
Beautiful words so well composed and to be one with the walk is to be with oneself. Great picture too.
To “be with oneself”…is a treasured gift. Thank you for your comment.
I try to walk the labyrinths near me weekly. It gives me much peace.
Cheryl, how lovely to walk labyrinths weekly. Makes me wonder if there are any labyrinths close to me. Thanks for your comment.
You’re welcome. I just wrote an article on labyrinths and through my research found so many near me. I had no idea!
Beautiful labyrinth and poem, Shobhna. I used to walk a labyrinth near my home before I moved. They’re wonderful.
Thanks Diana. Thich Nhat Hahns words always comfort, inspire and resonate for me.
I have been reading about labyrinths and found finger labyrinths and portable ones too. I did find 1 near me and am planning to go walk there.
Have a good weekend.
I mowed that huge one into my field one year, but the upkeep took the fun out of it. I’ll have to think outside the box. 🙂
Oh wow, to mow in the labyrinth is impressive.
Reblogged this on Teacher as Transformer and commented:
I enjoy walking in labyrinthes and meditating or just sitting beside them and meditating. This wonderful photo and comment is accompanied by a poem by Thich Nhat Hanh. His work is compelling as he writes in ways that make his deep spirituality understandable. There is a gentleness in the words.
Thank you so much for reblogging this post and your sentiments about Thich Nhat Hahns work.
Such a peaceful place to walk and meditate. Need to build one close by.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Happy weekend.
Can hardly go wrong with Thich Nhat Hahn! Thanks for sharing! Light and Love, Shona
So true. Thanks Shona. Have joyful week
How lovely! I’ve always wanted to find a labyrinth to walk!
Thank you! I hope you find a labyrinth to walk.
